ABP:  What was your reaction when announced as the 2010 American Beauties Plus Woman?

SU:

When my name was called as 2010 American Beauties Plus Woman I was totally ecstatic. I was going to be a part of a family of women who were just like me; plus size and extraordinarily talented in every way.

Two months before the pageant, I was on a rollercoaster of emotions not knowing how to accept myself for who I was. I decided it was time to go “back to school” and take courses in me. I accepted the title of Florida American Beauties Plus Woman, got into the habit of eating properly, exercised regularly and days before the pageant realized I lost 30 pounds and gained over 100 pounds of self-respect and self-confidence. After my name was called my self-confidence grew huge and I had to hold back the tears of joy (LaDaria would have been upset if I messed up my makeup…LOL).

For one to have confidence for who you are regardless of size and shape, you must first believe in yourself. Ironically, the final question I was asked was “What is the one lesson everyone should learn in life?” To believe in yourself and accept who you are.

It is a true honor to be part of the ABP family and gain so many wonderful sisters. Most importantly; I gained a Mum. Being a part of this family is an honor not anyone can take away. A special thank you goes to Angela for having a wonderful pageant system dedicated to today’s plus size woman.

BIO:

Su is a resident of Tampa, Fl. She graduated from the University of South Florida with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Business and Management Information Systems with a minor in International Business.

Su is actively involved in her community through various organizations such as Junior Achievement, different charities from the American Cancer Society to the American Heart Association, and programs involving foster parents. She is a single foster mother to her niece, Ann-Marie. Su enjoys Zumba Gold, BodyJam, yoga, tap dancing, competing in pageants for self-discovery and enrichment, collecting koala bears, her 12 cats, photography and meteorology.

On May 1, 2010 Su was crowned the American Beauties Plus Woman 2010. Throughout the next year Su will be traveling and raising awareness of the Pageant, the pageant platform the American Heart Association and her platform of The Wireless Foundation which utilizes today’s wireless technology in various American Communities.
