Beth - Miss American Beauties Plus

ABP:  What was your reaction when you heard your name winning Miss American Beauties Plus?

Beth:  Please say my name, Please say my name…….Beth Martin…..Just say it,”

These were the thoughts on my mind directly before crowning. When preparing for a pageant, despite all the hard work, you must prepare yourself for the possibility of one of two outcomes: one being that you do not get the crown and the second, more positive of the two outcomes, being that you win. However, no amount of preparation can prevent your mind from going COMPLETELY blank when they actually announce your name. The amount of joy, shock and utter disbelief felt when I won the title of Miss American Beauties Plus 2010 is indescribable. This could easily be demonstrated by my bursting into to tears and crying uncontrollably for the next 5 minutes. Did I mention I am not a cute crier! Once the shock and excitement of the night wore off, in true pageant girl style, I immediately began planning my first set of appearances and, of course, selecting outfits!

 Bio:

Growing up in a small town of Southwest Virginia did not leave much room for excitement during her younger years. However, this all changed when Miss American Beauties Plus 2010, Beth Nichole Martin, moved to Valdosta, Georgia following her high school graduation in 2002. During her time in Valdosta, Beth became very active both academically and through extra curricular activities. As she obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology while minoring in Chemistry and Latin, Beth was a dean’s list student and an active member of the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honors Society. She also served as a peer counselor and resident advisor to students on campus. Miss American Beauties Plus 2010 also had the privilege of being a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She held the position of activities coordinator within the sorority which allowed an outlet for her to organize volunteer opportunities for the group. These philanthropic activities included raising money for diabetes, the battered women’s shelter, American Red Cross, and breast cancer research. After obtaining her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology during July of 2007, Beth relocated to Kennesaw, Georgia to pursue her doctorate degree in Chiropractic Medicine. Since relocating to Kennesaw, Beth’s dedication to community involvement has carried over into her everyday life. As an active community member, she currently works with many charities and foundations. However, Beth spends a majority of her focus dealing with two main purposes. She hopes to use her title of Miss American Beauties Plus 2010 to further promote her platform, “Giving Animals a Voice: the Fight Against Animal Cruelty” by working diligently with local veterinarian offices and humane societies to aid in this never ending battle. Secondly, Beth plans to use her crown to take a hands-on approach within her community demonstrating that plus size women can be smart, beautiful, and active community members!!!

  Beth's Appearances so far.....

Hey Hey,

On June 26th I had the privilege of judging the Yankee Doodle Dandy pageant located in Lithia Springs, GA. The pageant was a natural pageant with girls aging from 2 all the way up to the teen division beginning at age 15. Once, my judging duties were completed, to my surprise, I was asked to crown! It was a great honor. (included are pictures of me judging and helping with crowning)

The Global America US Pageant, held on July 3rd in South Carolina, was the location of my next Miss American Beauties Plus debut. Initially, I was attending the pageant as a visiting queen, but was later asked to emcee! It was definitely a learning experience and also alot of fun!  (Included are pictues of me emceeing, with director Melissa Hooks, and with the new Global America US Ambassador Laquetta McCollough)

Traveling to Monroe, Louisiana was required for my next appearance as I attended the Miss Plus America 2010 pageant.  There I served as a visiting queen, with my sister queens Natasha Coleman and Letonya Reed, watching the beautiful ladies compete. Afif Cherif with StudioPrimetime, the official videographer of MPA 2010, asked me to interview the winners following the pageant (video to come). Interviewing the ladies allowed me stretch my wings on camera, but provided the opportunity to get to know some amazing queens!
