“I stood next
to the stage while Robin was doing her final walk reviewing the weekend events
that had unfolded. We, the delegates and queens, had such an amazing
weekend with developing friendships and an unusual occurrence in the dressing
room prior to the beginning of the final evening; we all sat around laughing,
taking pictures and congratulating each other on a job well done long before
any of us walked out in our gowns. No stress and no drama. It was
surreal! We knew that only 5 of us would walk away with a crown.
However, we also knew that we were all winners. Standing on stage when I
realized I won, was indescribable. It took me a while to wrap my brain
around the idea that I had just won my first national title! I stood up
there hoping that they didn’t make a mistake! My legs
went numb and it was probably a good thing that I didn’t want to be anywhere else in the world right there at that
moment. I must have really had an odd look on my face because I was told
to smile like I appreciated it. I thought I was going to cry because I
appreciated so much beyond words and I didn’t want
anyone to think I didn’t appreciate it. The end result was a very large goofy smile
on my face. I am truly honored to be part of the ABP family. That
is what we are, a family. We have been there through everything and then
some with each other. I couldn’t imagine it any other way. “

Beth is a former Ms. Indiana Plus
America for 2005 and 2006. She also
won the covergirl competition and appeared on the back cover of the 2006 Miss
Plus America program. She is the
spokesperson for the national charity the Josh Groban Foundation. The Josh
Groban Foundation assists children in need around the world through
contributions to arts, education and healthcare. Having been part of the Foundation since
the very beginning, she has been project director for the NOLA Music
Project. This project helped rebuild
the music department for St. Dominican’s all girls’ school, in New Orleans,
that was destroyed by hurricane Katrina.
She is also project director for Riley’s Wishes. Riley’s Wishes is a bi-annual toy drive for
Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. All toys are donated by Josh Groban fans
and then she delivers the donation and visits with the children, during their
annual 4th of July celebration. Beth has been an LPN for 17 years
and is the Restorative Nurse and Assistant MDS Coordinator for Forest Park
Health Campus in Richmond, Indiana.
She finds this a very rewarding and challenging job. Currently, she stays busy working full-time
and going to school full-time at IVY Tech.
Beth will graduate May 2009 with her RN degree and hopes to finish her
Bachelors in Technical Management shortly after that. Beth is a CPCT. She
is certified to perform cosmetic tattooing for the eyebrows, eyeliner, lips
and scar camouflage. Her main focus
includes but is not limited to those that have permanent hair loss from
cancer treatment, scar camouflage, areola restoration after breast
reconstructive surgery, and lips for those that have had cleft palate
reconstruction. Beth has
given back, to many individuals, their self confidence. “It is rewarding
beyond words…” states Beth. As part of her community
involvement, Beth walks annually for the March of Dimes and the Relay for
Life. A classically trained soprano,
Beth also donates her time to perform for long term care residents throughout
Indiana and the local community. She

part for the lead female role in a holiday opera to be performed in December
2008. In her spare time, Beth is an
X’Change model based out of Chicago and has modeled runway and print. Beth also does fit modeling for wedding
gowns in Kettering Ohio. She also
enjoys archery and ballroom dancing. Beth
states, “I believe that pageantry in a whole has been given a bad reputation.
Unfortunately, not all pageants promote a sense of well being and acceptance
and there are a few contestants that can make an once-in-a-lifetime
experience into a very big disappointment.
However, I believe that pageantry is important in today’s
society. A successful pageant system
helps to give women as well as men, self-confidence, the ability to express
their individuality and a foundation in which to promote their causes. American Beauties
Plus is just that type of pageant. I am proud to be an American Beauties Plus
Queen. I love my ABP family!” Her motto: “Don’t measure life by the
number of breaths you take but by the moments that take your breath away”. Beth lives with her 2 furry cat
children Albert and Muncie in Milton, Indiana. |
