AMERICAN BEAUTIES PLUS
CELEBRATES
5 YEARS OF HISTORY
Once upon a time in the land of pageantry, a woman of grace, elegance and charm decided that she wanted to create beauty throughout the land for the plus size woman. She decided to, in 2005, to direct the American Beauties Plus Pageant. Her name is Angela Howell. Angela, being the woman that she was, had to select her first beauties to represent her land of American Beauties Plus. She chose to reign Claudette Armbrister who served as her Ms, Erika Hamby who served as her Miss and Rose McCall who served as her Plus Woman. These women worked hard all year to make sure that everyone in the land of “Plustry” learned about the American Beauties Plus Pageant. Having approved of the job that her subjects did, she decided that yearly she would give other women a chance to represent the kingdom. So in 2007, the “Queen Mum” as she is affectionately called, welcomed 5 new women into the kingdom. Those women were Dora Lee Durham who served as Plus Woman, Chauna Howard who served as Mrs., Robin Gaines who served as Ms, Joi Bannister who served as Miss and the land’s Elite Royal was Natisha Webb - Rabb. Wanting to have more plus beauties in the land, in 2008 Queen Mum welcomed Yureka Lawrence as Miss, Beth Brown as Ms, and Julie Doss Smith as Mrs and Sondra Hardy as Plus Woman. That same year, Holly Campbell-Bradley became the Elite Royal. Wanting youth to be a part of the family, the kingdom welcomed its first Plus Teen Heather Daniele. In preparation for the 5th anniversary of American Beauties Plus, Queen Mum welcomed her 2009 queens who include Patsy Mintz, Miss, Katherine Brown, Ms, Natasha Coleman, Mrs, Meredith Jones, Plus Woman and Sandra Hanford as Plus Classic Woman. That same year, Cathe Mack McGarry became the newest Elite Royal.
Giving honor to our exceptional queens, Queen Mum and her committee of gatekeepers decided that we would honor our queens and make them Lifetime Queens. The word went out that Rose McCall would serve as Lifetime Queen I, Natisha Webb-Rabb would serve as Lifetime Queen II and Holly Campbell Bradley would serve as Lifetime Queen III. Each year, the gatekeeper will select a new Lifetime to become a part of this family.
Queen Mum and her gatekeepers also decided that they would select Ambassadors to continue their passion for American Beauties Plus. Those King Ambassadors are Reggie Lewis as Lifetime Mr. Ambassador, Steve Thompson as 2009 Mr. Ambassador and Anthony Rodgers as Jr. Mr. Ambassador. Claudette Armbrister became Lifetime Ambassador and Julie Doss Smith became Lifetime Ambassador I. In 2008 Erika Hamby was crowned 2008 Ambassador and so was Robin Gaines. The other 2008 Ambassadors were husband and wife Novell and Joi Bannister. Our 2009 Ambassador as Beth Brown.
During the time of pageantry, Natisha Webb-Rabb lost her son K’Alvin Nathaniel Webb. The Queen Mum decided that in honor of him, we would have The K’Alvin Nathaniel Webb Award of Style which was given to Sandra Hardy and later Katherine Brown.
So you see, The American Beauties Plus Pageant has grown and will continue to grow to be the best that we can be.
